What is a Paintball ?

Paintball is a game. Paintball is a sport. Paintball is a recreation. In these terms it is no different than tennis or baseball. Paintball is played on a court or a field. It uses equipment. It must be practiced to achieve proficiency. It is a team game though individuals can participate and the whole family can play. In its purest form, paintball brings together 2 opposing teams interacting in a game of Capture The Flag.

(This said in vague rhetoric) Paintball is a game that incorporates gun skills where in two teams compete in games of capture, elimination or stealth. Though the game’s objectives may vary, the way to victory is to mark your opponent with a Paintball Gun while trying to achieve a set task using teamwork and strategy. Teams are usually 3/5/7/10 a-side strong and can have up to 2 substitute players. With the opposing team eliminated and/or the task achieved, a horn sounds the end of the game with a winning team. Each game lasts between 10 to 30 minutes.

This extreme sport attracts participants from all walks of life. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, business executives, students…….. the list goes on, all looking for a different and challenging form of excitement. So join in and have a ball (or a few hundred!).

PAINTBALL GAME SCENARIOS

TOTAL ELIMINATION

Eliminate the opposing team completely . If all are not out it's a draw game. Clean and sweep.

CROSS FLAGS

Capture the flag (in reference to your base) that is left, mid-field and place it to the right mid-field. If you are eliminated carrying the flag it must be passed to the player of your team closest to you.

STEAL THE BACON

Two tires with flags tied to them are placed on either side of a wall facing the bases. Your team must capture the flag and tire from the opposite side of the wall from your base and return it your own base. You can roll the tire but cannot pass it or throw it. If you are eliminated with the tire, drop it and let another player take it.

CENTER FLAG

One flag placed at the center of the field. Both teams are heading for the same flag. The flag must be captured and taken to the opposite base. You cannot pass the flag. If you get eliminated carrying the flag, you must stand there and hold the flag in the air till any player takes it. Since there is only one flag in play, either team can take the flag.

PRESIDENT

Flags are tied around the necks of two players, one from each team. Presidents do not carry guns. The objective is to get your president to the opposite base with out him or her being eliminated, then you win. If he or she is, you lose. Same for opposing team.

CAPTURE THE FLAG

One flag is placed at each base. The objective is to capture the flag at the opposite base and return it to your own base. You cannot pass the flag. If you are eliminated carrying the flag, pass it to the player closest to you.

SPY

Each player is given a secret number. The object of the game is same as CAPTURE THE FLAG (above). A few minutes into the game the horn is sounded and a number is called. There is one player in each team with this number. They become spies. They turn on their team. Their objective changes to eliminate your “own team” and take “your flag” to “their” base.

TOP GUN

No teams, a free for all. At the end of this game will be one player that has not been eliminated and will be named TOP GUN of the day.
